It's not because I'm picky. It's not because I want to be high-maintenance. It's not because I chose it (entirely) and it's not because I don't like bread (I love bread). Here's the lowdown on just what I eat, why I eat it, and how it really feels to be a gluten-free vegan!
This Friday, I'm back with another Five Finds Friday wrap-up!
First, an update from a few weeks ago: I gave up on The Office. I just don't find it funny at ALL. I gave it a fair shot, I promise!
Okay, now for something ACTUALLY funny! Yesterday, this mean tweets video popped up on my newsfeed and gave me a good little chuckle during my lunch break:
I didn't need any more reason to love The Giving Keys, but they went and gave me one anyway. I'm OBSESSED with these key bracelets. I have two necklaces already, but I think I might just have to add this to my collection...or at least ask for it for Christmas!
WHY FOOD ALLERGY FAKERS NEED TO STOP. This post is long but so worth reading. As someone with food allergies that are NOT casual and make me VERY sick, I cannot stress the importance of this enough. I keep getting asked in restaurants if my gluten-free and vegan request is an actual allergy or just a preference, and I'm having to stress to my waiters how serious it is that the food is prepared safely and properly. It isn't some fad to me-- it's my health. If you have food allergies or even if you don't, PLEASE read this and educate yourself and learn how serious and important this is!
CAJUN TOFU WITH DIRTY QUINOA. A coworker shared this post with me for World Vegan Day, and the recipe at the bottom looks SO good! Can't wait to try this one soon.
Buy this book, and read it out loud to yourself, one prayer a day. It will change your heart. It will give you chills. It will remind you that while reading words of prayers is good, there's power in engaging with them using more of your senses-- your hands on the pages, your words giving sound to the syllables, your ears hearing the cadence of the sentences, your eyes scanning the page. You will feel more present and more engaged with prayer, and it will nearly bring you to tears. (Or maybe it's just me. Try it and tell me.)
This song. Listen, then listen again, and again. It's so good. Thankful for the friend who heard this a few months back and sent it to me because she thought I would like it-- oh, do I like it! It's become one I listen to every time I need to be still and reflect.
