What Saved My Life in February

The main thing I can tell you about February is that I got the flu. (Influenza A, to be exact.) IT WAS AWFUL. I’ve never been this sick in my life, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Thankfully, Netflix came in clutch with some good bingeable shows, because I could not stay awake long enough to read much. It was ROUGH, but I’m feeling really grateful that spring is around the corner and this sickness is behind me.

Here’s what saved my life in February:

five-star books:

good shows + movies:

  • The Circle

  • Love is Blind

  • Next in Fashion

thought-provoking podcasts:

inspiring music:

everything else:

  • rediscovering my crossword puzzle books.

  • chippy paint and beautiful brick and climbing ivy. (see it all here)

  • flowers that bloom in the dead of winter. (thanks, camellia + daffodils.)

  • celebrating baby showers + birthdays of my best friends.

  • LAUNCHING MY VERY OWN PODCAST. (i’m still not over it!!!)

  • reading poetry — Wendell Berry + Mary Oliver + Rumi + Hafiz + more.

  • a galentine’s day weekend in DC with two internet besties. (hear more about it on episode 2 of the RAD podcast!)

  • discovering new bookstores to get lost in. (Solid State Books + Capitol Hill Books are both GEMS.)

  • memorizing Colossians 3:1-11.

  • my counselor’s prayer: that I would dare to trust God.

  • spending an evening + a morning learning from Bob Goff. he was great on stage in front of 1500+ people, but better in a small room with just 40 of us.

  • a day spent at re:creation — a creative retreat that some of my most talented friends collaborate on together. it was such a gift.

  • playing with flowers + going asymmetrical with my arrangement.

  • joining in on #the430pmproject with my friend Paige of Sunday Vibes Photo

  • tamiflu + DayQuil + zinc + vitamin C + gatorade + popsicles + SLEEP. (the flu is no joke and I can’t remember ever being sicker in my life.)

  • having a sweet pup to dogsit while I was sick— the snuggles were much needed.

  • a sweet flower delivery from my Dad from across town. felt so loved!

  • getting the Sunday New York Times delivered to my door. (turned it into this!)
