A Gift Guide for Shopping Small + Supporting Black, POC, LGBTQIA+, Women-Owned Businesses
‘tis the season for gift guides in abundance, but this one is different!
in a world verrrrry fueled by capitalism, i want to share a bunch of ideas that will make your money matter more this season, supporting small businesses (almost entirely), with most being Black, people of color, lgbtqia+, or women-owned. i’m a big believer that our money talks, and i want to put mine into the kinds of businesses i want to see more of!
i hope you’ll support these amazing small businesses (and the many others like them!) with your shopping and gifting this year and every year, and if you have other recs, please feel free to drop them in the comments!
happy holidays, friends!

this year, i thought it would be fun to round up things that have caught my eye in recent weeks, especially as i’ve been curating gift guides!
for the friends who are always up to some new artistic endeavor, taking trips to the craft store for supplies for their newest pinterest-inspired hobby, here are fun ideas to keep their creative juices flowing!
for the ones who would rather stay snuggled up at home with blankets and books and big mugs of hot drinks!
from totes to pencils to swag and more, here are 25 great ideas for the book lovers in your life!
i’ve rounded up 50 ideas for stocking stuffers that the adults in your life are sure to love, and they’re all less than $15. mix in some fun treats and sweets, and you’ll be set.
Supporting small businesses both locally and beyond is one of my FAVORITE things — it matters so much that we spend our money empowering artists, makers, creators, entrepreneurs, and friends living out their dreams.
If you have a friend or loved one who is into books and reading, chances are you don’t know what book you could get them that they would love but haven’t read yet. Enter: other bookish gifts! Avoid the struggle of trying to find the perfect read, and gift a great accompaniment to their reading life instead.
Parents can be tricky to shop for— what do you give the people who raised you, or joined your family, or helped form who you are today? What books will help spark conversation, or give them a bit of an escape, or just be fun for them to read?
I’m a big believer that our money speaks, and I want mine to say that I care about supporting all kinds of makers and creators and businesses, especially those often neglected or forgotten. These incredible goods are all from BIPOC-owned brands and businesses, and I highly recommend supporting them with your shopping!
I feel like in 2020 you could probably say we all are homebodies… but these books are especially perfect for gifting to the ones who love being snuggled up at home, who find enjoyment in making a house feel warm and welcoming, for the ones who know how to properly pronounce “hygge” because they live it out.
i firmly believe books are the very best gifts, even if nobody ever gets them for me because they think i have too many! not true!!! anyway. i’ve turned to gifting books to my people in hopes that it inspires them to return the favor… and also because as previously stated, i believe books are the best gifts.
