A Prayer for the Hard Times

Lord,

When our hearts are broken and shattered and crushed, we come to You. When the days feel dark and heavy, we come to You. When we don't have answers and nothing makes sense, we come to You. When tragedy hits, when lives end, when the diagnosis is bad, when the unthinkable happens, we come to You.

We know You are Healer, Redeemer, Restorer. We know you are a good, good Father, even when we don't feel like things are good.

Father, we believe You, but help our unbelief. It's there, we know it's there, trying to pull us away from You and down into doubt or despair, but we want to choose You. We want to choose to turn toward You instead of away.

Bring Your perfect peace. Draw us near to Your heart that is for us. Remind us of what is true, and what is of You. Sing Your melodies over us so we can drown out the voices of the enemy. Comfort us in the stillness, in the silence, in the secret places in our souls.

You are the only One who saves us. You are the One who has made a way for us. 

It hurts now. It's hell right now. We are confused by this, we are frustrated at these outcomes, we are angry, we are lost.

But You, Lord, You are good and You are faithful and You are fighting for us. Will you help us remember that today? Will you shine Your light into our darkness and remind us that You are near, You are here, You haven't left us?

Increase our faith, Jesus. Be our strength through the hard times.

We love You and we trust You.
